Is the background a constant for the entire site? If so, why did you decide on the deep blue and the palm trees/hammock?
I would imagine it would be constant throughout the site.
I developed some ideas on paper, nothing was coloured in, just outlines. When I started creating the tree/hammock i defaulted it to black, thinking I would change it to whatever colour later on. The logo (white) determined the colour for the fonts. The I tried to create a connection with these hotels being great for night life. After playing around with that, deep blue/white/black combo jumped out the most.
